Economy ministry intensifies market inspections
The Ministry of Economy and Trade affirmed that it is continuing daily monitoring of market conditions through regular inspections carried out by the Consumer Protection Directorate across Lebanon.

In a statement, the ministry stressed that, in light of recent government measures, inspection and oversight campaigns will be intensified in the coming phase. It warned that it will not tolerate violations or unjustified price increases, describing any exploitation as unacceptable and subject to legal action.

The ministry noted that these efforts follow meetings held by the Minister of Economy with the Supermarket and Bakeries Syndicates, during which stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment not to raise prices.

It also recalled the "Sawa Bel Siyam" initiative, under which 27 supermarket chains pledged discounts of no less than 15 percent on 21 essential goods to ease the burden on citizens.

The ministry said it will resume publishing periodic Consumer Protection reports to enhance transparency and inform the public.
