The EU’s 27 member states have called for “maximum restraint, protection of civilians and full respect of international law,” in a statement issued by the Bloc’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.

On Saturday, Kallas said it is “essential that the war does not spread any further.” The EU’s top diplomat hosted an extraordinary Foreign Affairs Council meeting on Sunday.

EU Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen will convene a special security college on Monday to discuss the situation in the Middle East.
