UNIFIL: We remain steadfast in our mission to support stability
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said this morning that its peacekeepers observed Israeli army soldiers crossing into Lebanese areas near Markaba, Adaisseh, Kfar Kila and Ramyeh before returning south of the Blue Line.

In a statement, UNIFIL said that since the last conflict and the cessation of hostilities understanding, the Israeli army has maintained five positions and two "buffer zones" inside Lebanon, in violation of Security Council resolution 1701.

Over the past two days, alongside dozens of rockets and missiles fired into Israel claimed by Hezbollah, UNIFIL recorded several airstrikes, hundreds of incidents of firing across the Blue Line, and 84 air violations.

The mission stressed that each of these incidents constitutes a serious breach of resolution 1701.

UNIFIL said it remains in constant contact with both the Lebanese and Israeli parties, as well as the Mechanism, to call for de-escalation. Despite extremely challenging conditions, peacekeepers continue to carry out their mandated tasks under resolution 1701 and will keep reporting developments to the Security Council.

The mission reaffirmed that through its continued presence, patrols, operational activities and community engagement, it demonstrates its enduring commitment to peace and security in the region.

UNIFIL added that it remains steadfast in its mission to support stability, de-escalation, and the extension of Lebanese State authority, while maintaining close engagement with local communities and partners on the ground, and continuing to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of its peacekeepers.
