UNIFIL spokesperson Candice Ardill announced that “over the past 48 hours, we have recorded heavy gunfire and explosions in and around the town of Naqoura, particularly near the UNIFIL headquarters.”
She added that “bullets, shrapnel, and projectile fragments hit several buildings and open areas within the headquarters, putting peacekeepers at risk. As a result, forces were confined to shelters to avoid injuries.”
