Minister of Public Health Rakan Nasreddine received the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Red Cross Georges Kettaneh accompanied by the Director of the Ambulance and Emergency Sector, Alexis Nehmeh.
The discussion focused on the Israeli enemy's attacks on the medical sector and healthcare workers in Southern Lebanon. Minister Nasreddine extended his condolences for the Lebanese Red Cross martyr, Youssef Assaf, who was killed in Majdal Zoun on March 9. He also wished a speedy recovery to the injured paramedic, expressing his deep appreciation for the Lebanese Red Cross’s tireless efforts in transporting the wounded. For his part, Kettaneh reaffirmed the Red Cross's commitment to strengthening its presence in Southern Lebanon.
In a separate meeting, the Minister of Public Health met with Agnes Dhur, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Lebanon, accompanied by the ICRC Health Coordinator, Vincent Lovergin.
The Minister expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the Committee to both public and private hospitals in Southern Lebanon, highlighting the vital importance of integration and partnership in this field. Furthermore, Minister Nasreddine urged the ICRC to exert effective efforts to speak out against the repeated attacks on the medical and health sectors, which obstruct life-saving rescue missions and constitute a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
