Grand Jaafari Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan congratulated the Lebanese on the occasion of Easter, stating in a statement:
“On this sacred day imbued with truth, we extend our blessings to our Christian brothers and to all Lebanese on the glorious feast of Easter. We affirm that the heavenly meeting between Islam and Christianity stems from the essence of the Kingdom. Today, attention is drawn to the Gospel verse that says: ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life,’ because life, in the logic of heaven, cannot be separated from the rights of nations, peoples, and homelands, and from what these require in terms of justice, integrity, righteousness, and the rightful defense of oneself and one’s nation, as well as the balance of their human and moral duties in the face of evil, falsehood, tyranny, and terrorism.
The logic of covenants here affirms that God is close to those who draw near to Him through truth, not through falsehood, which stands in stark opposition to divine approval. Falsehood is not merely a word denoting evil; it is embodied in programs, choices, and empires of terrorism, destruction, killing, and occupation, as practiced by the United States and Israel.”
