Brazilian government welcomes ceasefire in Lebanon
The Brazilian government welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon on April 16. In reaffirming its commitment to Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity, Brazil calls on Israel to end its occupation in southern Lebanon and to withdraw all its forces from Lebanese territory.

In this context, it urges the parties involved to respect the terms of the truce, as well as to ensure a permanent cessation of hostilities and the return of internally displaced persons to their homes. It also recalls the need for full compliance with the provisions of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006), which established the ceasefire that ended the 2006 war.

It further expresses the expectation that dialogue between the governments of Lebanon and Israel, mediated by the United States, will lead to a comprehensive political solution that brings peace and security to the region.
