Asked about Iran’s new proposal to the US that was submitted via Pakistani mediators, the US White House said it would not discuss private diplomacy but maintains Iran “can never possess a nuclear weapon”.

“We do not detail private diplomatic conversations,” White House spokesperson Anna ‌Kelly told Reuters. “President Trump has been ⁠clear that Iran ⁠can never possess a nuclear weapon, and negotiations ⁠continue to ensure ⁠the short- and ⁠long-term national security of the United States.”
