Poland’s PM Donald Tusk is calling for transatlantic unity to endure through the current turbulent period, underscoring the importance of Warsaw’s relationship with Washington just days after the Pentagon scrapped plans to send 4,000 US-based troops to Poland.

“It is the task of all of us here in Poland, in Europe, across the Atlantic, in the US, in Canada, to ensure that transatlantic cooperation regardless of various political variables survives this difficult period,” he said.

The White House ordered the troop drawdown amid growing frustration that European allies have refused to support the U.S. military campaign against Iran.
