Trump Claims Russia’s War in Ukraine Is Approaching Its End
US President Donald Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin is under pressure over Russia’s war in Ukraine and suggested negotiations to end the conflict are making progress.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, July 6, Trump was asked why Russia had launched a deadly missile strike on Kyiv shortly after his latest conversation with Putin and whether the Russian leader felt any pressure.

“I had a good conversation with him,” Trump said. “He wants to end it, and Ukraine wants to end it. We’re negotiating, and we’ll see if we can get it done.”

Asked directly whether Putin feels pressure, Trump replied that he believes he does.

‘Machines of death’

Trump also commented on the growing role of drones in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“Who would have thought drones would become such a factor? They’re machines of death. Incredible,” he said.

Unmanned aerial systems have become one of the defining features of the war, with both Russia and Ukraine relying heavily on drones for reconnaissance, long-range strikes and battlefield operations.

Strike followed Trump-Putin call

Trump’s remarks came after Russia launched another large-scale missile and drone attack on Kyiv, killing civilians and causing widespread destruction in the capital.

The strike prompted renewed calls from Ukrainian officials for additional Western air defense support, particularly Patriot interceptor missiles, ahead of this week’s NATO summit in Ankara.
