The Anti-Narcotics Directorate announced that it had foiled an attempt to smuggle a shipment of narcotics coming from Lebanon in a security operation carried out in the Al Nabk area of the Damascus countryside province.
The directorate said via its Telegram channel that the operation followed careful monitoring and surveillance and resulted in the arrest of an individual identified as (K. M.), as well as the seizure of 850,000 narcotic pills.
It added that the shipment was fully confiscated, while investigations with the detainee are ongoing to uncover his accomplices and other individuals involved, in preparation for referring him to the competent judiciary to take the necessary legal measures against him.
Earlier, on July 23, the Ministry of Defense announced that units of the Syrian Arab Army’s Border Guard Forces had thwarted several attempts to smuggle narcotics from Lebanese territory into Syria in the Homs and Damascus countryside areas. The units seized more than 40 kilograms of hashish, in addition to more than 700,000 Captagon pills.
