Development and Liberation bloc member, MP Hani Kobeissi stressed the need to preserve Lebanon's entity by committing to important constitutional dates, calling upon all parties to agree on a new electoral law and seek to form a national unity cabinet.

"Any official, regardless of his position, should provide security and stability to the Lebanese citizens, sovereignty to the state and support the Lebanese Army by all means," Kobeissi said on Monday in a memorial ceremony.

Commenting on the Lebanese political situation, Kobeissi said that the real danger is not in postponing the elections, which is a constitutional matter and if not held today, it would be held after few months. He explained that the real danger lies in not defending Lebanon against Israel, "which threatens our stability and violates Lebanon's sovereignty."

The MP added that the Lebanese political parties have to preserve Lebanon's entity by agreeing on a new electoral law and they have to form a national unity cabinet in which all parties are represented in order to preserve Lebanon's stability, maintain civil peace and seek to fortify Lebanon in order to face the Israeli enemy.
