Shaky security situation and its negative repercussions on the country and people made the Interior Ministry launch a plan to activate the municipal police and guards to support the security apparatuses.
Caretaker Interior and Municipalities Minister Marwan Charbel said that, "Since our independence, we have never managed to build institutions that protect the citizen well," Charbel stated.
"We're passing through a critical stage of car bomb attacks and assassinations, I do not want to scare people, but I must say that in order to take caution," he stressed.
Charbel announced that, "there are at least one million Syrian national and 600 thousands Palestinians, which means that the half of the inhabitants in Lebanon are foreigners, and this is the main cause of the security and economic crisis," he voiced.
Furthermore, Charbel praised the importance of the role of municipalities in Lebanon and said they can help preserve the security in our country.
Moreover, Charbel confirmed that the ministry worked on coordination among all the security apparatuses and set a blueprint for cooperation among them.
"Starting tomorrow we will start executing all plans that we have set with the help of municipalities," the minister said, hoping that everyone would work as one hand.
“We are going through a dangerous phase of car blasts, assassinations and bombs... that’s why we have to achieve preemptive security," he came to an end.
