In a dinner banquet that took place at the residence of Aoun’s son-in-law, LAF Commando Regiment commander Shamel Roukoz, a reconciliation meeting was held between Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun and Marada Movement leader Suleiman Frangieh.
The way of the meeting was paved by a dinner banquet that gathered Roukoz and Frangieh in Bnechii a week ago, according to information obtained by "mtv".
Both men agreed to organize a diner during which Aoun and Frangieh shall break the ice.
Given that Roukoz maintains a good relation with Frangieh and he was not affected by differences between both parties and as he is also a relative of Aoun, therefore the meeting was scheduled to be held at his residence.
It is worth to mention that the meeting between the two Christian leaders was also attended by Aoun's other son-in-law, Caretaker Energy Minister Gebran Bassil, as well as Franjieh's son, Toni, and former minister Youssef Saadeh.
Rabieh's diner had a family character because the wives of the conferees were also present.
The diner which took place on Sunday night lasted until 2 am, which explains that the diner was not an ordinary one, according to "mtv",
The meeting was political par excellence and it dwelled on controversial issues in a very straight way, said the participating intermediates to "mtv".
Among the tackled issues were the extension of the parliament's term and LAF chief mandate which were the main cause of the difference between both parties.
In addition to the reservation of Frangieh on Bassil's performance who acts alone without referring to Marada party and mainly Bassil's ignorance to Minister Youssef Saadeh.
The misunderstanding between both parties has vanished, "We have agreed on the next step and we will face all future duties hand in hand in particular the issue of the parliament elections," a participant in the meeting told "mtv".
The same source refused to comment on the conferees' opinion regarding the presidential elections and the extension of President Suleiman's mandate; however the issue was highlighted during the diner banquet.
No second meeting was scheduled because a new leaf has been turned over, according to the source.
