Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin considered that “the time is not ripe” for the Security Council to consider a resolution seeking to open a humanitarian passage in Syria.
Such initiative usually carries criticism against the Regime, while Moscow is seeking a “realistic approach,” without revealing whether Russia will use its veto prerogative against any resolution of the kind, or not, as long as such a resolution does not exist yet.
Diplomats found that after the end of Geneva II, without any effective results, most notably concerning humanitarian aid to besieged Homs, many Western and Arab opposition-backing countries, seek to set an agenda for the Security Council to examine.
