The case of kidnapped Lebanese Joseph Sader has been brought back to the forefront as Interior Minister Ashraf Rifi ordered the disclosure of the minutes of the Human Rights parliamentary committee's meeting during which the issue was discussed back in 2011.
Hope has been further revived as President Michel Sleiman asked the general prosecutor to bring this case to life by considering Rifi’s request as an official report.
Sader, an IT manager at Middle East Airlines and a father of three, was abducted on February 12, 2009, while walking to work at Rafik Hariri International Airport.
The Sader family thanked both President Sleiman and Minister Rifi for their efforts, voicing admonishment over the judiciary’s procrastination in addressing their kin’s case.
The Ministry of Justice has now, according to the family members, contributed to injecting hope and dynamism into Joseph Sader’s case after General Security Chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim had stopped answering their calls.
In a phone conversation with MTV, Interior Minister Ashraf Rifi reiterated his commitment to ending Joseph Sader’s ordeal.
