Here comes Tripoli trotting to the forefront of all news bulletins.
In recent hours, clashes seem to resume between the LAF and militants within the confines of Tripoli’s old souks and more specifically the Arid, Nahhasin, Tabiaa, Bab Hadidi and Khan Askar where LAF troops are operating to besiege insurgents and flush them out of their battalion as backup troops have been summoned to the northern city.
Heavy, medium and light weaponry has been used during the insidious clashes that have caused massive damages to vehicles, businesses and buildings, while five troops have been injured. The Army has not yet entered the souks due to their complex architecture, which could prove to be tricky.
As a final note, the media has been broadcasting various rumors that seek to spread tension among Lebanese nationals and specifically north residents, such as invading churches, tossing grenades in Qobba and Maloula, and targeting internal souks.
