The following lines weren’t written to defend Tony Khalifeh. We can even say that the mischievous journalist’s comments were a bit overboard as they were thrown so heavily against abused women and the remarks came close to blaming women, just like men, when it comes to domestic abuse.
The viewers and the media have the right to criticize Khalifeh’s stance and the two factions can regard the 1544 host as lenient regarding Attorney Amine Abu Jaoudeh, caught on film as he blatantly attacked his wife in public.
However, Tony didn’t go around addressing the case and the video evidence as he was in full compliance with judiciary laws banning the broadcast of any case’s details as it remains under investigation.
Sadly, the media these days tends to break the rules and broadcast scandals simply to attract viewers regardless of the harm their shows causes to their targets’ dignity.
Khalifeh was accused by an activist of accepting a bribe offered by the defendant Amine Abu Jaoudeh and had every right to sue her for defamation and this right here is what the media had no right to criticize him for.
Tony Khalifeh didn’t attack the girl, slam her or send her threatening messages. He simply resorted to the law.
This is a case that should receive the media’s solidarity as the accusations thrown at Khalifeh could target any journalist in the future as it has a thousand times in the past.
The verbal attack made by the activist is a serious offense that should be addressed by the judicial system. Tony turned towards the law while others use their microphones to offend, slander and settle personal vendettas.
