Footage: Beirut Tyrannized by New Year Celebratory Gunfire

Despite police entreats, every year like clockwork dozens of Southern Suburbs' residents empty their ammunition stocks on gunshots ranging from medium to heavy caliber to brighten up Beirut skies with celebratory gunfire.

This deviant phenomenon proves far from jolly once you start counting the numbers of human heads on which stray bullets have landed, or the damage people had to suffer to their personal property.

However, this brand of folks seems undeterred as ever by the life threat they pose on others through its reckless and irresponsible jubilation.

Every year, they ring out at the stroke of midnight - bullets darting into the quiet winter skies like fire balls.

Celebratory gunfire is a hazard to the community we live in and a misdemeanor punishable by law; so why hasn’t our government taken any significant measures to stop these truly senseless tragedies from recurring, when in most cases, these felons are opening fire in residential areas where the risk of people getting permanently impaired or killed is quite high.
