Amal Movement MP, Ali Khreis, said on Thursday that Lebanon stood at a crucial crossroad, especially in the wake of the most recent meeting that took place between the Lebanese President, House Speaker, and Prime Minister.

"We almost believed that we were capable of reaching agreement on a just electoral law that ensures proper representation until we were surprised with the bouts of pressure being exerted by some political sides," Khreis said during an Amal Movement iftar banquet in Shayyah. He also wondered whether the aim was to torpedo all the electoral law progress that has been made thus far.

"We have said over and over again that parliamentary void would affect all state institutions," the lawmaker added, calling on those hindering the birth of a new law to back from their impossible conditions and proposals.

Khreiss finally pushed for a new law that revives state institutions.
