UNIFIL: Israeli infiltration crucial violation to resolution #1701
UNIFIL Chief, Major General Paolo Serra, on Wednesday expressed deep concern regarding the flagrant Israeli infiltration into Lebanese territories, particularly making mention of the ambush which took place in the Southern Lebanese region of Labbouneh.

On August 7, 2013, an Israeli foot patrol crossed the Blue Line, 400 meters into Lebanese territory off the border town of Labbouneh. During the infiltration an explosion occurred, leaving a number of troops wounded.

"The Israeli infiltration into Lebanese territories is a dangerous violation of all attempts to halt acts of aggression, as well as international security resolution #1701," warned Serra in the wake of the regular tripartite meeting which he had chaired in the presence of senior officers representing the Lebanese and Israeli armies.

Serra did not fail to deplore the rocket attack which targeted Israel last week, considering it another blatant violation of resolution #1701.

Two of four rockets fired from south Lebanon fell into Israel last Thursday, Lebanese security sources said. The Lebanese Army confirmed the attack in a statement, saying four Katyusha rockets were fired from Tyre, south Lebanon, into Israel at 4:50 p.m.

The UNIFIL Chief urged all involved sides to actively cooperate with UNIFIL whilst investigating the aforementioned incidents.
