On August 18, 2012 President Michel Suleiman was still awaiting a call for his Syrian counterpart Bachar al-Assad to explain Syria’s involvement in the case of former Minister Michel Smaha.
Reply came a little bit late on October 21, 2013 when Assad said that he is waiting a proof from President Suleiman on Syria’s involvement in this case.
Hence, after more than a year, here comes the reply of al-Assad on President of the Republic Michel Suleiman words, when former Minister Michel Smaha was arrested for allegedly transferring explosives and executing a terrorist plot. Syria’s National Security Office Chief Ali Mamlouk was accused of being involved in this terrorist case.
“Assad wanted a proof from Suleiman but he missed out that the major and strongest proof was Smaha’s confessions”, sources said to mtv advising Assad to review Smaha’s confessions.
Smaha said before the Lebanese court that Mamlouk entitled him with this “terrorist” mission. To execute his orders, he transferred explosives from Mamlouk office to Beirut. “This is what Bachar wants”, are true recorded words (voice and image), according to Smaha. “So does al-Assad want more proofs”, the sources wonder.
