Lebanese descendant Amal Alamuddin – recently Clooney – was named 2014’s most fascinating person by ABC’s Barbara Walters.
The British lawyer and human rights activist grabbed the honors because Walters believed her wedding to famed actor George Clooney to be “really one of the greatest achievements in human history” as she described it herself during the show on which she announced her list for this year.
"Like Clooney, she is passionately committed to human rights causes," Walters noted. "Like Clooney, who has a father who was a journalist, she has a mother who is a journalist. And like Clooney, she is a star in her own world,” said Walters who seems to have dismissed Amal’s titles and achievements while assessing her for the top spot.
According to Walter, marrying George Clooney allowed Amal to join the ranks of Jackie Onassis, Princess
Diana and Kate Middleton — everything she does, says or wears is officially… fascinating.
“Amazingly, Amal has been the subject of very little snark or envy. Maybe because we, like George Clooney, find it impossible to resist perfection,” she said.
Other names featured on Walters’ list include Scarlett Johansson, Neil Patrick Harris, Oprah Winfrey and Taylor Swift.
