MTV has learned that the dinner banquet held by theNational Liberal Party's Deir al-Qamar’s party branch Saturday in the presence of Chief Dori Chamoun, was boycotted by a number of the party’s officials due to the participation of Tracy Chamoun, President of the Liberal Democrats Party.
Chamoun sat next to her uncle, MP Dory Chamoun and appeared to engage in amicable conversation. Naturally, the party’s supporters were infuriated by this display and voiced their vehement opposition on social media.
The uproar was triggered by the controversial cordiality the two had exhibited over dinner, given that a deeply-held political dispute has fractured ties between the parties, in addition to her being a March 8 supporter whereas the National Liberal Party considers itself as one of the components of March 14.
It is worth noting that two months separate us from the next presidential elections of the National Liberal party, without a single mention as to whether its chief is planning on running for an additional term.
