Strait of Hormuz shipping traffic drops to six as US-Iran peace deal hopes fade

Shipping data show traffic through the Strait of Hormuz fell to six vessels on Monday, compared with a 10-day average of about 11, as hopes fade for a peace deal between the US and Iran, Reuters reports.
Citing data from the ship-tracking company Kpler, Reuters said four commodity vessels entered the waterway, including two empty oil product tankers. Two vessels exited the strait, including a small tanker laden with liquefied petroleum gas and another carrying residual fuels.
In pre-war days, roughly 130 to 140 ships typically transited the strait each day.
Meanwhile, 25 vessels on Monday sailed through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait connecting the Gulf of Aden with the Red Sea. Its traffic remained broadly unchanged compared with its 10-day average of nearly 24 ships, according to Kpler data.
