Hospital Owners Warn of a Major Health Crisis

8/29/2026 1:19:51 PM

Head of the Hospital Owners Syndicate Pierre Yared revealed that “the state should pay hospitals between $70 million and $80 million per month,” noting that “operating costs have increased by 30%, while the daily hospital bed rate currently stands at $55, compared to the $100 it should be.”

Speaking to MFM, Yared said: “Had it not been for cooperation with the insurance sector, the healthcare sector would not have recovered after the 2019 crisis,” noting that there are “some delays in payments, but the situation remains acceptable.”

He added: “We must preserve, develop and modernize the healthcare system; otherwise, the consequences will be disastrous.”
