Confessions Made by Bassil's Aide in the Arms Smuggling Case

In a follow-up to the case of the subversive network that was dismantled between Akkar, Dahiyeh and the Bekaa, MTV website obtained new details and confessions made by the detainees before judicial and security authorities, revealing how they attempted to cover up the crime and the extent of the logistical and financial support provided by Hezbollah operatives to this cell affiliated with the former Syrian regime.
The candid confessions made by the aide to MP Gebran Bassil, who is a member of the State Security Directorate and the brother of one of the detainees, revealed the precise details of how he handled the explosives that were hidden in an orchard in Akkar.
The detainee admitted that after the network was exposed and the first arrests began, he rushed to move the bombs and explosives that had been hidden inside the 11 rooms in Akkar and inside homes there, and disposed of them by throwing them directly into the waters of the Great River on the Lebanese , in an attempt to conceal criminal evidence and facilitate the escape of those involved before security forces raided the area and arrested him.
Meanwhile, the five detainees (two Lebanese and three Syrians) explained the full extent of Hezbollah members’ involvement in supporting and managing this network. Confessions recorded in the investigation reports confirmed that Hezbollah cadres provided full financial and logistical support to operatives arriving from the Syrian coast, with the aim of subjecting them to training courses on detonating explosive devices and assembling drones at a special camp in the Bekaa Valley.
According to the confessions of those arrested, the following forms of support were provided:
Party members allocated monthly salaries and financial aid to each trainee ranging from $300 to $500. Not to mention providing them with shelter in Dahiyeh.
Sources told MTV website that an association affiliated with Hezbollah handled the financial and logistical affairs of these groups directly.
Intelligence investigations also revealed that on-the-ground communication between Hezbollah's members and individuals in the network took place via a telephone network using foreign numbers originating from Dahiyeh.
This prompted the judiciary to expand the investigation to identify the Hezbollah operatives facilitating the network’s activities. The investigation records indicate that one of the operatives was referred to as “Alaa,” though his true identity remains unknown at this time.
