The Internal Security Forces Directorate-General – Public Relations Division issued the following statement:

On May 5, 2026, the bodies of a man identified as A.I., born in 1984, a Syrian national, and his wife, K.H., born in 1987, also a Syrian national, were found inside their home in the Sabra area, each having sustained a gunshot wound. It was determined that a safe had been stolen from the home after the crime was committed.

Specialized units from the Information Branch immediately began conducting field inquiries and investigations to uncover the circumstances of the crime, identify those involved and arrest them.

Following investigations and surveillance, the branch identified those involved in the crime, including A.T., born in 2006, a Lebanese national, and A.M., born in 2008, a Palestinian national.

On June 26 and August 26, 2026, following close surveillance and monitoring, branch patrols arrested the two men in the southern suburbs. The second suspect was found hiding in a room at a hotel after fleeing Shatila camp following a dispute with another person that resulted in the latter being shot in the mouth.

During questioning, the two admitted to their involvement in monitoring the victims during the execution of the crime and stealing the safe. They said the actual perpetrators were two other individuals who carried out the crime at the request of a drug dealer who was owed money by one of the victims.

The two suspects, along with the seized evidence, were handed over to the relevant unit for the necessary legal measures, in accordance with instructions from the competent judicial authorities. Efforts are ongoing to arrest all those involved.
