Israeli army spokesperson Ella Waweya said that the Israeli military attacked Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure in southern Lebanon in response to the launch of two explosive drones toward Israeli forces in the security zone.

Waweya said on X that, as part of the strikes, the Israeli Air Force targeted weapons storage facilities and buildings that Hezbollah had intended to use to plan and direct attacks in the security zone. It also targeted a Hezbollah command center located inside a building that had previously been used as a hospital in southern Lebanon.

She said Hezbollah had recently been operating from the command center, including in surveillance and artillery activities. She added that all the targets were struck to eliminate the threat, accusing Hezbollah of using medical infrastructure to carry out attacks against Israeli forces and civilians.

Waweya said the strikes were carried out in response to an attempted Hezbollah attack yesterday against Israeli forces operating in the Ali al-Taher Heights area, during which two explosive drones were launched toward the troops. No Israeli soldiers were injured.

She added that measures had been taken before the strikes to minimize the expected harm to civilians, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance.

“We will continue operating in the Ali al-Taher hills area and will not allow operatives there to plan or carry out attacks against us,” Waweya said, adding that Israel would continue working to eliminate threats while adhering to the ceasefire agreement.
