In a press conference held on Monday afternoon, Strong Lebanon bloc head, MP Gebran Bassil, voiced complete rejection to the general amnesty laws, calling for replacing them with anti-corruption laws.

On the issue of bank deposits, Bassil said: “We are scientifically certain that Lebanon is able to overcome the huge financial loophole without compromising deposits or selling state property.”

He stressed that "we will not accept that any rescue plan would begin except by returning the granted and looted funds that have been transferred to the outside."

Bassil reiterated his bloc’s previous call for the return of funds that have been transferred abroad and for passing the law to recover said funds. He added that if there is no solution, then his Bloc will resort to the judiciary to assume responsibility in this respect.
