Disease specialist clarifies which groups can receive Covid-19 vaccine
National News Agency
Bacterial diseases specialist at Rafik Hariri Hospital, Dr. Asima Dabouni, on Thursday confirmed to the National News Agency that the rumors that have been circulating on social media about the groups that should steer clear from the coronavirus vaccine were untrue, let alone not scientifically based.

To the contrary, she emphasized that people who suffered from health problems such as blood pressure, diabetes, and heart problems should be prioritized in getting the vaccine because they are more vulnerable than other groups.

“People who take blood-thinning medications can receive the vaccine, provided that attention be paid to the method of inserting the injection — in a way that prevents blood from clotting,” she added.

As for pregnant women, Dr. Dabouni suggested that they consult with their doctors to determine the dangers of contracting the virus.

“Regarding breastfeeding women, there aren’t any confirmed studies in this field yet, but it is preferable to receive the vaccine,” she added.

As for people with incurable diseases, such as cancer patients who receive chemotherapy treatments, Dr. Dabouni said that no study has been issued yet regarding these categories, but advised them to take it as no studies have proven the vaccine to be harmful for cancer patients.

With regard to those who have been injected with the flu vaccine, Dr. Dabouni explained that "they can take the coronavirus vaccine, provided that the two vaccines are administered two weeks apart.”
