Caretaker Education Minister Tarek Majzoub on Friday met with UNICEF headquarters’ Director of Education, Rob Jenkins, to whom he stressed Lebanon’s continuing message of education through the completion of official exams and securing teachers’ rights “against all odds”.

“It is necessary to place education at the top of all priorities,” Majzoub said, thanking “UNICEF’s support making the vaccination of educational, administrative, and university staff members a priority within the national vaccination plan.”

In turn, Jenkins underlined the many challenges under which educational work is taking place, especially in Lebanon. He stressed that UNICEF was there to function under tough circumstances and was always on Lebanon’s side.

“UNICEF will continue to work within available budgets and in cooperation with donors to secure qualitative learning for students, and it will also provide support to the Ministry’s five-year plan in order to achieve its goals of developing education, improving its quality and methods, and developing its programs,” he explained.
