Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Wednesday welcomed at the Grand Serail German Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Niels Annen, in the presence of German Ambassador to Lebanon, Andreas Kindl, and an accompanying delegation.
Discussions reportedly touched on the current general situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as the means to bolster the bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Premier Mikati stressed that During the meeting, President Mikati stressed that among the government's priorities during the current circumstances are to achieve financial reform and increase electricity supply hours, in addition to supporting the most vulnerable families and securing their daily living necessities.
The Premier stressed the government's commitment to adopting absolute transparency in all developmental projects, especially the Beirut Port reconstruction.
Mikati also renewed commitment to holding the upcoming parliamentary elections on time.
On the other hand, Mikati met at the Grand Serail with Cypriot Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides, in the presence of Cypriot Ambassador to Lebanon, Panayiotis Kyriacou, Lebanon's Ambassador to Cyprus, Claude El Hajal, and an accompanying delegation
Talks reportedly touched on the bilateral relations between Lebanon and Cyprus, and the current general situation in Lebanon and the region.
Mikati hailed the Lebanese-Cypriot relations as sturdy based on mutual respect.
The Cypriot Foreign Minister, in turn, affirmed his country's readiness to support Lebanon in international podiums.
Separately, Mikati held a meeting attended by the European Union's Ambassador to Lebanon, Ralph Tarraf, United Nations Deputy Special Coordinator in Lebanon, and Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs, Najat Rushdie, World Bank's Regional Representative, Mona Kouzi, and Coordinator of Lebanon Reform, Recovery and Reconstruction Framework (3RF) Jaap Van Degel, in the presence of Mikati's Diplomatic advisor, Ambassador Boutros Assaker.
The meeting discussed the implementation and acceleration of related projects.
Later, Mikati received the Japanese ambassador to Lebanon, Takeshi Okubo, with whom he discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Japanese Ambassador affirmed his country's commitment to supporting Lebanon in the fields of energy, education and health.
The Premier also met respectively with Agriculture Minister, Dr. Abbas Hajj Hassan, and Displaced Minister, Issam Charafeddine.
The Prime Minister also sent a congratulatory cable to Dr. Ardem Patapoutian, for receiving the 2021 Nobel Prize in General Medicine.
