The Kataeb Students Interest and youth from the National Liberal Party (Ahrar) have called for a protest on Saturday at 3pm in front of the Syrian embassy building in Baabda. The sit-in is set to be staged in protest of Syrian interference in Lebanon, aiming at drawing a line at the ambassador's irreverent conduct.
Ali Abdul Karim is not "a first-class ambassador, and therefore is ought to abide by diplomatic codes of conduct, and not to interfere in the Lebanese institutions' affairs and give instructions as it used to be during the period of Syrian occupation", the students interest said in a statement released earlier today.
The summoned ambassador is asked to abide promptly by the Lebanese State decision instead of launcing accusations, to assume the responsibility of bringing Ali Mamlouk before Lebanese Judiciary, and to draw a line at the ongoing Syrian border violations.
