Speaker Nabih Berri met on Thursday the U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly, in the presence of the head of foreign affairs in Amal Movement ex-minister Talal Sahily and media consultant Ali Hamdan.
Plumbly conveyed the positive atmosphere that prevailed during his meeting with Berri, and during an earlier morning meeting with ex-PM Fouad Siniora.
Both meetings discussed latest developments, including the ongoing Syrian crisis and its ripple effects on Lebanon, notably the issue of refugees. The issue of upcoming elections was also tackled; In this framework, Plumbly praised the resumption of the electoral subcommittee meetings, and underscored that elections must be held on their scheduled time.
