Fierce clashes erased Tripoli’s relative calm

Tension returned to the traditional axes of clashes in Tripoli Sunday evening, the fighting broke out at 7:00 p.m. between Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tebbaneh.

 

Heightened fire in al-Qobbeh, al-Baqqar and Hariri Project, caused the injury of four civilians:

Haidar Saleem, Mohamad Merhebi, Hassan Ibrahim, and Taha al-Rizz.

 

The sounds of machinegun fire and explosions are echoing in the area, amid sniper activity in Syria Street and the adjacent areas.

 

International highway was closed to traffic in wake of renewed clashes. Roads leading to the areas of Zahiriya, Bab Hadid and Malloula in Tripoli have been cut-off as well.

 

The Lebanese army was deployed in the heated areas, and it immediately responded the fire source.

 

In the same context, MTV reporter pointed out that the clashes retreated, whilst sniper activity in Syria Street, al-Baqqar, al-Amerkan, Jabal Mohsen, Souk al-Qameh and Hariri Project.

 

Intermittent gunfire is heard as well as sounds of explosions.
