Four People Killed in an Ambush Set in Aarsal's Outlying Area

Unidentified gunmen killed four people in an ambush set in Aarsal's barren mountains, on the road linking between the Bekaa's Ras Baalbeck and Al Qaa.


According to the National News Agency, the four people were inside a Jeep Grand Cherokee in Wadi Raqef near Ras Baalbeck.


The four people who were killed in the ambush were identified as Ali Karami Jaafar, Mohammad Ali Ahmad Jaafar, Ali Abdo Al Rashiini, and Hussein Shareif Amhaz.


The latter's kins rushed to set checkpoints in the area stretching between Al Labweh and Aarsal, screening the commuters' indentities.


Other gunmen also set checkpoints at the northern entrance of Baalbeck, while the Lebanese Army is working on removing them.


Subsequently, tension prevailed as the Lebanese Army troops managed to pull out the bodies and transport them to Al Batoul hospital in Baalbeck.


In a statement issued following the ambush, the residents of Aarsal noted that the attack aims at stirring discordance between them and the surrounding regions as well as fometing strife.


The residents utterly condemned the assault, urging security forces to unveil the perpetrators and bring them to justice.


"We disown those who killed the four people in Wadi Rafeq, regardless of the identities", the statement said.
