Israeli President Shimon Peres shored up U.S plans to arm Syrian rebels, overlooking fears the weapons could be turned against Israel and exacerbate the conflict.

In an interview with Reuters, Peres refuted the idea that Israel could launch a unilateral military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities and called on Palestinians and Israelis to forge immediate peace.
