Conflicting reports have arisen early this morning as a mysterious blast was heard overnight in the area the Baabda suburb of Aaraya. Mystery was gradually lifted as two launch pads were found in Kessrouan's Ballouneh region.
Only one of the two launch pads had a rocket installed on it as a technical dysfunction prevented it from being launched.
The first hit the high voltage electricity cables in Bsous-Kehhaleh region.
Units of the military Engineering Regiment and the Republican Guards have been carrying out an in-depth screening at Bsous valley since the morning to investigate the reasons behind the blast.
Electricite Du Liban had earlier noted that the 150 kilowatts cable which supplied energy from the Jamhour power station, was destroyed by a blast, the cause of which remains uncertain.
EDL officials said residents supplied by the Jamhour power station now receive electricity from an alternative energy cable.
The field combing carried out by EDL's technical teams showed that a metal object had collided with the Jiyye-Bsalim power transmitter which caused a blast.
