One week after Sidon’s incidents and a century on Palestinian weapons in Lebanon speeded up the visit of President Mahmoud Abbas to Lebanon confirming to Lebanese state and People that Palestinian presence in Lebanon is temporarily.
Hours after arriving to Lebanon, Abbas held a joint press conference with President Michel Suleiman, thanked Lebanon for its firm stance next to Palestinians in order to get their independence on all their territories and confirmed disassociation applies on Palestinians also since they do not intervene in in others countries’ affairs.
“The presence Palestinian refugees in Lebanon is temporarily and no one believes in settlement at all”, said Abbas stressing that weapons in camps are under the control of the state and Lebanese government knowing that some people are not ruled by Palestinian authority. Abbas confirmed also that they obey to all what Lebanese people decide.
“His talks with Kerry focused on reviving peace talks”, he said pointing out that “the ball is now in the Israeli playground and Arab peace initiative that we accept as it is, is an integral part of the International Legislation.
President Suleiman also confirmed the necessity of disassociation from Syrian crisis by abiding to Baabda declaration.
“It is in the interest of Palestinian People not to intervene in Lebanese affairs”, he said. “A decision was taken to improve life conditions of Palestinians and organize handling arms”, he added. “Two laws were approved till now to enhance their conditions”, he stressed reiterating their readiness to implement all related resolutions. As for Naher el-Bared, a major part was rebuilt but we didn’t receive the funds we were promised to get, yet maps are settled, according to Suleiman.
