Geagea to Assafir: No government can be formed with Hezbollah for it is objectively unacceptable to include a party that is taking part in Syria's fighting
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea reiterated that no government can be formed with Hezbollah for it is objectively unacceptable to include a party that is taking part in Syria's fighting.
In remarks published by Assafir newspaper, Geagea warned against granting Hezbollah a ministerial share because in that case "the cabinet will look like it approves and covers a Lebanese party's involvement in the Syrian conflict."
In that case, Geagea added, the government as a whole would be deemed involved in the military conflict which will entail greater dangers and pit "a war cabinet" against the Syrian people, most of the Arab countries and the international community.
"Then, Lebanon will turn into a state that is smiliar to the isloated North Korea," he noted.
As for the ongoing ministerial bottleneck, LF leader stressed that the March 14 camp is ready to stay off the upcoming cabinet, equally to Hezbollah, "although that would be unfair".
Geagea stood firm on boycotting the parliamentary session set to take place on Tuesday, lashing out at Speaker Nabih Berri "who is acting as if he was the country's pampered son, allowing himself the right to make inaccurate decisions."
