Parliament session postponed again…

History repeats itself, lack of quorum then a postponed session.

Speaker of the House Nabih Berri insisted on waiting at his office for the completion of the quorum, which did not and will not be completed. Therefore head of the Parliament announced the postponement of the legislative session until June 29, 30 and 31 of this month.

Boycotting the session were March 14 forces and Change and Reform bloc over both the constitutionality of Parliament convening under a resigned government and the proposal to extend the term of Army commander Gen. Jean Kahwaji.

Caretaker Health Minister Ali Hassan Khalil and Hizbullah MP Ali Ammar accused, through MTV, the blocking party which is paralyzing the whole country and its institutions as well.

Parliamentary blocs’ stances were unveiled on the eve of the session such as Future bloc MP Ahmad Fatfat who wondered to Annahar daily about Berri’s insistence on holding a session.

Same position was taken by Kataeb party MP Elie Marouni who said that, "all the contacts we made were fruitless."

Marouni reiterated to Annahar newspaper that, "It is necessary to agree on a session because our dispute is no longer political however it is constitutional; therefore we have to agree in order to make the Parliament resume its work"
