Elie Roumieh continues to exert strenuous efforts to grant the release of his brother Bechara who has been detained in Syrian prisons since March 14, 1978.
Elie, who caught sight of his brother on Syria state-run TV during a live broadcast of pro-Assad prisoners’ demonstrations back in 2005, had received proofs on Bechara’s detention in the so-called al-Aadra prison.
In fact, a hat supposedly worn by Bechara had served as watertight evidence as dried blood spots matched the DNA profile of Elie’s brother.
Similarly to Elie, Samia Abdallah, whose brother Imad has been also detained for 30 years, is striving against rampant injustice as she solicits the Lebanese officials’ attention.
