An-Nahar official sources pointed out that talks concerning the formation of a new cabinet, have yielded “very positive” results, in such a way as to set next Saturday as a possible date for the “birth” of the Lebanese government.
The ministries will be distributed to the main sects as follows:
Ministry of Interior and Municipalities to Sunnite Mohammad al- Mashnouq
Ministry of Defense to Maronite Khalil Heraoui
Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Orthodox sect
And the Ministry of Finance to the Shiite
The two remaining ministries have not been assigned yet, as talks are underway concerning the participation of “Change and Reform Party” while awaiting the return of MP Michel Aoun from the Vatican. Reports said that a possible exception might be set, so as to keep MP Gebran Bassil Minister of Power and Water.
Sources to an-Nahar were told that President Sleiman, PM-designate Salam and Speaker Nabih Berri have agreed to leave the ministerial statement to the drafting committee.
