Media office of outgoing President Michel Suleiman said in a statement that Suleiman received a phone call from UN Chief Ban Ki-moon praising his efforts during his six-year mandate, mainly in the regard of maintaining safety and security.

Ban has shown readiness to follow up on resolutions issued by International Support Group which took place last September. The UN Chief also said he is ready to exert efforts in order to guarantee success of Rome conference, set to be held mid-June, aiming at finding means to support Lebanese Army.

During the phone call, Ban voiced his keenness on staging the presidential polls as soon as possible, hoping that void period won't last too long.

Ban and Suleiman agreed on meeting in New York to follow up on all these issues.
