Mass Laud, Kingdom's Generosity Praised

Following the one-billion Saudi aid to the Lebanese Army, everybody seemed to become an expert on eulogy, for laud did not only stem from the March 14 coalition, given that the Free Patriotic Movement was also among the first to thank the Saudi King for his second generous grant.

"Once again, Saudi Arabia displayed its unwavering support to Lebanon's stability and security. It has  decade-long accounts of political, military, economic and social support for Lebanon and has shored up the country during the Civil War, while proposing political initiatives that had led to the war-halting Taef Accord," MP Walid Jumblat said in a statement.

Lebanese Forces head Samir Geagea cabled the Custodian of the Two Mosques a thank you letter, in which he valued the latter's honorable stance as to Lebanon's sovereignty and independence, as well as the people's freedom and his determination to hasten the implementation of the exceptional army-grant.

"Your stances following the Arsal incidents did not surprise us, for we are part of the Lebanese people that are aware and appreciate your current support for Lebanon," the LF leader wrote. "We salute the moderation and the righteous Islam that you represent in the face of those who try to abduct Islam and present it to the world as a religion of extremism, hatred and terrorism," Geagea concluded.

Change and Reform bloc head MP Michel Aoun had also conveyed a message to the Saudi, relaying his regards and appreciation for the brotherly stances towards Lebanon as well as his care and constant support to the country, most notably as represented by the generous LAF grant, which will have a direct positive impact on Lebanon's security and stability through bolstering national unity.

Political sources viewed it likely to have a certain bond among the numerous figureheads following their converging stances, which would hopefully lead to an internal settlement under the Kingdom's patronage, leading to the election of a new President.

Said sources also noted that the political aspect of the Arsal incidents has imposed new and crucial contexts as per the new Lebanese Army grant that goes beyond the military institution's urgent needs.
