Annahar newspaper, published Thursday, reported that the Syrian refugees’ dossier will be featured on the Cabinet’s schedule in today’s session, adding that the session will shed a light on the outcomes of the ministerial sub-committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tammam Salam Wednesday.
Social Affairs Minister Rachid Derbas stated that a decision has been made regarding the establishment of experimental refugee camps at the borders aimed at resolving the Syrian refugees’ crisis, adding that a meeting will be held Thursday in the presence of councilors from the Foreign Affairs, Interior, Labor and Social Affairs Ministries to look into the project execution mechanisms.
In remarks published in Annahar newspaper, Derbas noted that a decision has been made to form several committees including representatives from the Interior, Social Affairs ministries, General Security and the UNHCR so as to scrutinize the status of the refugees currently crossing the borders, adding that the refugee status will be dropped from those who fail to meet the standards set by the government.
"The sub-committees will be further looked into during a meeting attended by General Security Chief Abbas Ibrahim," said Derbas, adding that the issue will be brought up during the Cabinet session Thursday.
