A piece of advice, forget all the reassuring statements claiming that the security situation has been "put under control", raise your gaze to the disillusioning reality that Arsal will, unfortunately, always remain bursting with security breaches.
Two Lebanese Army soldiers were killed and three others were wounded after a roadside explosive device detonated as an LAF patrol rolled down the Wadi Hameed street. The Army immediately cordoned off the area while a military expert rushed to the crime scene so as to determine the device's weight.
Relatives of soldier Abbas Medlej, who was beheaded by ISIS militants last month, briefly blocked a vital highway in Baalbek Friday after reports surfaced that the Army had detained two Syrians who admitted to taking part in their kin's slaughter.
Soldier Medlej's mother called on the government to resist international and regional pressure and penalize the murderer.
"The circumstances in the Bekaa are dodgy, everyone dreads the Syrian crisis' spillover and the kidnapped dossier's upshots, not to mention the subsequent terrorists' actions," MP Issam Araji told MTV.
Araji then pointed out that the state is to eye the Bekaa with utmost heed by fear of sedition.
In the light of current events, one has to wonder whether this is a tit-for-tat or action-reaction situation amid obscure and grim negations to free the kidnapped troops. Will then Arsal witness an explosive weekend?
