Lebanon is rife with gambling venues, especially online poker.
It has become exceedingly popular over the past years, although it remains illegal as security forces continue to shut them down bar some which are particularily covered.
Dikwaneh area witnessed a series of raids over the past two days as municipality police, accompanied by security forces, ended in closing down two appartments and shops used for this purpose.
Municipality head Antoine Chakhtoura told MTV that this campaign against unlicensed venues kicked off back in 2010, and continues to enforce the law without discrimination, noting that Mount Lebanon Governor and the municipality are the sole purveyors of authorisations.
Security forces are currently investigating the latest raids, despite Chaktoura’s prevailing conviction that such parlors should be banned altogether.
