There are always costumes that take things a bit too far and Halloween 2015 was no exception.
This year''s crop of offensive costumes included people who dressed as troubled Lamar Odom and his wife Khloe Kardashian, accused sexual predator Bill Cosby and a Syrian refugee with a baby.
Others chose to forego good taste and went as a hybrid of Bruce and Caityln Jenner, dentist Walter Palmer and Cecil the dead lion, and a dead man who landed on a freeway sign after a car crash.
The individuals who chose to dress in those envelope-pushing costumes were probably not college students at SUNY Geneseo in upstate New York/
The school was concerned about students dressing in costumes that were violent, racist or otherwise offensive so a hotline was created to give students a way to get advice about good taste.
Posters were hung on campus with the hotline number, the Democrat and Chronicle reported.
They read: 'Unsure if your costume might be offensive?
'Don't be scared to ask questions.'
Photos of the tasteless costumes were shared on social media and some drew criticism for being offensive.
Jigme Ugen, president of The Tibetan National Congress, wrote: 'Livid & appalled by the woman dressed as a #SyrianRefugee with a doll [baby] sling-wrapped as her #Halloween costume. Insensitive & racist.'
The man who wore the costume of the dead driver who ended up atop a freeway sign in Los Angeles got feedback in person when he attended two Halloween parties, LAist reported.
He said some people who got the reference were 'appalled and sickened' but also laughed.
When he went to a house party, several people 'felt it was an insensitive gesture'.
